Red Copper with L’Oréal

If you have a client in your chair who is looking to do a red copper base with a pop of brighter copper in some beautiful highlights, here is a colour combination using L’Oreal’s Majirel line that turned out wonderfully on our client.

Our client had washed out solid red hair. She was looking for something that was a little brighter for summer with some partial highlights on the top, without being over the top in terms of maintenance.

Here is what we mixed for her:

Base Colour Formula

L’Oreal Majirel 6.64 + 20 volume (in a 1:1.5 ratio)

Highlights Formula

Since we did not need to lift her hair much lighter (her hair was already a level 6), we did not need to use any bleach. We just simply used a single process colour for her highlights. When her highlights start to fade, we can just redo them or tone them very quickly at the sink to refresh them.

The formula for her highlights is:

L’Oreal Majirel 8.43 + 30 volume (in a 1:1.5 ratio)

If you want to bring out the copper even more, don’t forget that L’Oreal also has colour intensifiers, including one in a Copper Mix.

How did we do it?

First, we did her partial highlights on the top. Then we applied her base colour in between the foils and all over her head (from roots to ends). We let everything process for 30 minutes.

We finished everything with a fresh and light low-maintenance hair cut.

Stay tuned for more of pictures and descriptions of our colour formulas!
